Hands Down Eugene
Grand Palace Records hereby shall release unto the world White Stone and Black Witch. Let it be so for free for a short time in the form in which it will appear on the upcoming 12″ VINYL RECORD release “White Stone (side-A) & Black Witch (side-A). The e.p.’s, being separate entities will each inhabit their own plain physically and their own files, digitally. The vinyl will also contain a free download card for a digital version of the record. Also to be thrown into the ring will be the peppy kid brother of the vinyl monster, also called “White Stone & Black Witch“, with a somewhat altered, dare-we-say EXPANSIVE SOUNDSCAPE form in technology’s little buddy, (the digital download store) sold mp3 format. This version will not only be a bigger bang for your speakers
but will include a few bonus tracks with album purchase. That’s not only more music, that’s more songs! There are no plans to release a compact disc version of these e.p’s at this time in protest of our unjust war on dark sorcery.

White Stone (or “Dit is het stenigen van bloed van mijn volk. Wij delen in haar lust en haar vragen om vergiffenis. Om die wij bieden onze on kruid en de geesten.” in its native tongue) took its shape from 1,346 potential songs recorded on a four-day peyote binge in the frozen jungles of Greater China. All of the songs are loosely based on the theme of finding one’s clone in the vast expanse of Her Mother Universe’s Arms. Do we find our clone or do we find ourselves? White Stone!

Black Witch (or “Seguire la linea fino a quando gli occhi croce. Raggiungere nella tua tasca e riempirlo di semi. Ci guardano per il vostro segnale, mentre la crescente erbacce.” in its native tongue) took its shape from 453 potential songs recorded on a six-day giraffe execution in the swampy deserts of Mid-North Canada. All of the Songs are loosely based on the theme of killing one’s clone in an underwater snow cave in Space. Do we kill our clone or are we killing ourselves? Black Witch!

The records recorded at Battle Tapes Recording with Hands Down Eugene were all done live to 2-track atari cartridge, on a house boat (Battle Tapes House Boating) in Percy Priest Lake from 1992-2007. Somewhere in the middle of making one of the records, Moody drowned while doing an underwater vocal overdub. Replaced by Sammy Haggar’s song, Bryce Haggar, Hands Down Eugene will (hopefully) soon be touring with Haggar senior on a Mexican Holiday Tour to be known as “A Very Wabo Cabomas to Everyone!”

Matt Gunar Moody, MDA (Lead Vocals, Lead Bass, Lead Beard), left the experience of making the Shadow Plains cult Favorite, Madison (xoxo records, 2005), with the taste of milk and honey. After a lavish month celebrating its release with a whirlwind “Tour of the Vengeful Deserts”, he found himself malaria-stricken, road-weary, clinging to his beard in his half-awake, half-asleep coma of desperation that had taken over what was once the life of a shaggy-haired-care-free-peace-touting-flower-tossing -neon-throwing-lightning-rod-miracle of a pop superstar. On February Twenty-Eighth, Twenty-O-Six, Moody climbed from his bed a bald, heavily-bearded, wisp of a man –But a man, none-the-less!– and rang his Latin/Japanese/Chinese/White butler to find him a glass to toast with! he had written his next epic masterpieces ENTIRELY IN HIS RUG-ADDLED, POST-MALARIA-ENCRUSTED, FANTASTIC MIND!

Jeremy Ferguson (Lead Engineer/Producer) records all the music. His day job is as a mechanic. He dreamed of being a frontman in a band ever since he saw Marcy Playground at a Halloween party in his hometown, White Bridge, PA. Growing up a Quaker was tough but Ferguson was always willing to put on a show.

Matt Martin (Lead Drummer) is the Author. They had music before he joined the group but it took on a life brand new with his vision, his whole take on non-melodious melodies, and the whole more is less than more of nothing approach. Don’t even get me started on the whale sounds.

Andy Willhite (Lead Guitar, Second rank Vocalist) was raised in the jungles of Peru by spider monkeys, went on to complete his G.E.D., and operates his own line of breakfast trucks (”Andy’s Famous Pork Links & Waffle Iron Hour!”) when he’s not attending classes at G.I.T. Matt Rowland (Lead Piano and Organ) is blind, likens himself to Richard Pryor in See No Evil, Hear No Evil (with Gene Wilder), has always been bi-curious towards houses, and is very proud of his achievements in bowling for the blind, which involves neither bowling nor blind people.

Mason Vickery founded Orphans without Seals to make sure all the children of the world could know of Seal’s love. Seal, as you know,
has sold many records. Mason also arranges the seating in the VW expanded Beetle-come-Bus-come-Tour Bus while the band is touring.

Todd Kemp left the band tragically in 2002 to form his own break dancing crew called Steppin for Jesus!. He dances for the Lord in
tiny churches all across the Congo.
